The River Weaver is a great place to begin exploring the salt making region of Cheshire. It has a dynamic past, built on salt. At one time it was considered to be the main artery of the local salt industry and had a long and profitable commercial life. Now however, much of the Weaver is an undisturbed haven for wildlife. You will see Herons, Ducks, Swans, Kingfishers, Dragonflies, mink and sometimes even water voles. You will find rural tranquillity both old and new along the Weaver and there are many interesting places well worth detour.
The Anderton Boat Lift is one of the most impressive pieces of canal engineering in the country. Built in the 1870's and considered a marvel of its time, it was the prototype for larger versions in Germany, France, Holland and Belgium. The lift was closed in 1983 and has now been restored after a two-year project and is fully operational to take you up onto the Trent and Mersey canal or vice versa. There is also a nature park at Anderton where you can follow the trail and discover the unusual wildflowers that now grow here due to the lime waste produced by the neighbouring chemical industry.
You can also visit the Edwardian Pumping station, the Lion Salt Works, the Salt Museum or even cruise up to the flashes at Winsford which is popular for sailing, angling and birdwatching. For any more information on Northwich or the River Weaver please contact us.

We can accommodate all types of craft including river cruisers, narrow boats and yachts. We have rise and fall pontoons which are serviced with water and electricity.
The site is fully secure and we have CCTV and a resident moorer on hand in the event of an emergency.
Other facilities on site include the provision of diesel, Calor Gas and chandlery supplies.
